Overview For Week 2's CPDD lesson, I learnt about laser cutting. More specifically, the basics of operating a laser cutter and  the basic functions of CorelDRAW . For the laser cutter, we learnt about the hazards of using a laser cutter additionally, how to start and stop the laser cutter. As for CorelDRAW, we gained insight about the commonly used tools, learning how to print using the software and more. Next, we were taught about parametric designs. What is parametric modeling? It is  a CAD software design tool that saves time by removing the need for a design engineer to repeatedly redraw a design whenever one of the design's dimensions changes. Furthermore, we were even tasked to design a phone/tablet stand. Fusion360 Step 1: Setting up the parameters for the phone Step 2: Sketching the base design of the phone/tablet stand Step 3: Applying the parameters for the phone/tablet stand from Step 1 Step 4: Adding a mini curve at the front of the phone/tablet stand. This prevent...

Home Welcome to my blog, this is where I record down my journey through CP5070, Chemical Product Design and Development. About me: I am Daryl from DCHE Chemical Engineering, class DCHE/2B/01. I am a facilitator for group 1, "Garage Engineers". My group mates are Jia yu, Nikkisha and Benjamin. Roles and Responsibilities Leader: Nikkisha Facilitator: Daryl Target Setter: Benjamin Time Keeper: Jia yu Ground rules for Garage Engineers Everyone should contribute equally Everyone should be punctual and be present for meetings or discussions Seek for help when in need All group mates should contribute effectively towards group discussions Group members should solve conflict nicely  Group members should acknowledge messages that are sent in the group Personal Goals First Goal: To be better at communication This is because during group discussions, I often fear that I would give the wrong answer or give a suggestion that may seem silly to others. This often held me back from voicing o...

Overview In today's CP5070 lesson, we were given a refresher course about Fusion360. So what is Fusion360? It is basically the one and only tool that connects the entire product development process into a single CAD/CAM/CAE cloud-based platform. It is able to work well on both Mac and Windows. What we had to do for today's lesson is re-creating a keychain using Fusion360 with our name on it. In my opinion, I find such programme fun and exciting to use and we can get to explore and create our very own products. After we are done with the products, we are able to send it to a 3D Printer to get it printed out using an assortment of different materials. To my mind, learning to use such programme and 3D Printing is a very crucial skill as I believe this field of technology would continue grow and play a very important parts of our daily lives. An example is in the future, I believe it is possible to even print out functioning human organs and this would greatly benefit those who tru...
